Transport
Gloucestershire County Council deal with all transport enquiries. (see link below)
You may be eligible for free school travel assistance if your child goes to the nearest, or nearest available school to your home address, and is:
- 2 miles or more for pupils aged under 8 years
- 3 miles or more for all pupils aged 8 and over
There are extended rights to transport for children over 8 if:
- your child is eligible for free school meals
Please note - From the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year, there will be two categories of benefits-based free school meals.
- Targeted FSM - for children who are in households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earning of £7,400 or less
- Expanded FSM - for children who do not qualify for Targeted FSM, but who are in households receiving Universal Credit.
Extended rights to travel assistance will apply to children eligible for Targeted FSM only.
We can only provide travel assistance to and from one address and this should be the child's main, permanent address.
